Melissopalinological analysis

Honey varies in chemical composition, color, flavor and aroma. All of these variables are dependent on the botanical origin. This analysis takes into account the pollen grains present in honey as the main indicator of origin.

Propolis Origin Analysis

The bees, with the help of their jaws, cut the vegetative apexes and reach the glandular trichomes and secretory ducts, full of secondary (resinous) compounds. With their paws, they form “acorns”, which contain epidermal fragments, and histological elements, which are excellent markers for characterizing the botanical origin of propolis

Microscopic analysis of bee pollen

Bee pollen and the result of the agglutination of pollen grains from flowers, carried out by worker bees, using nectar and its salivary substances.

The identification of pollen grains present in bee pollen, allows the commercialization of a product with identity and nutritional qualities differentiated by its origin.

Esther Margarida Bastos / Owner of ProBee Company (natural products and apicolas).
Graduated in Biological Sciences from the Federal University of Minas Gerais (1986), master's degree in Food Science from the Faculty of Pharmacy / Federal University of Minas Gerais (1993) and doctorate in Science (emphasis on bees) from the University of São Paulo / Ribeirão Preto (2001). She was a Researcher at Fundacao Eezquiel Dias and Director of Research and Development / Belo Horizonte / MG / Brazil, 1987- 2018. She has experience in the field of Botany, with an emphasis on Palynology and Plant Anatomy Applied to the Study of Bee Food Resources, working at 30 years on the following themes: identification of pollen grains, pollination, bee flora, botanical origin of propolis and honey from Apis mellifera bees, quality control and biological activity of bee products,

Aroeira Honey

Estudos desenvolvidos pelo pesquisador da PROBEE, documentou como e onde as abelhas coletam o mel de aroeira e os parâmetros biológicos envolvidos para a produção deste tipo de mel.  Este estudo gerou base científica para  a construção da IG - Denominação do Mel de Aroeira do Norte de Minas.

First studies on the botanical origin of green propolis was developed by Esther Bastos and these helped add value to the propolis of Bacharis dracunculifolia sold in Japan.

 

Studies developed by the PROBEE researcher, documented how and where bees collect green propolis produced in Minas Gerais. (2001- 2011) which generated the Green Propolis Denomination of Origin (INPI BR 412013000005-0)
